CompAir Announces USA Launch for World-Beating, Energy-Saving Air Compressor - 05/01/2008Industrial manufacturers and process companies across North America will be the first to benefit from lower energy costs and a cut in carbon emissions gained from introducing a unique and dynamic air compressor technology. CompAir USA, based in Ohio, has today announced the launch of the new Quantima oil-free variable-speed compressor, which uses innovative centrifugal technology. Compressed air is the ‘fourth utility’ after water, electricity and gas, and is used by thousands of manufacturing and process companies throughout the country. The new Quantima compressor range cuts compressed air energy bills by up to 25% and saves the same amount of carbon dioxide emissions as taking 75 family cars off the road or planting 16,000 trees.* CompAir has sales revenues in excess of $500 million, employs 1800 people worldwide and sells to 67 countries across the globe. The UK-headquartered company is growing strongly in North America, as Gavin Monn, President Americas commented: “With the rising energy costs and the economic outlook, US manufacturers and processors need every competitive edge they can get. The new Quantima compressor uses unique technology to drive down companies’ escalating energy bills, reduce maintenance concerns and costs, slash downtime and increase productivity. This product was developed for global markets, but it is being launched in the USA as a priority.” CompAir has a long-standing reputation for leading product innovation and this latest advance sets the benchmark for oil-free air compression. At the heart of the new compressor design is the revolutionary Q-drive compression assembly, which has only one moving part spinning in a magnetic field. Its unique rotor and direct-driven compression elements are levitated by active electromagnetic bearings to allow them to reach speeds of up to 60,000 rpm. *Carbon emissions figures published equate to a calculation based on a user achieving energy savings of 10% on a 400 hp machine.
